Never as of today (Jan 2013)
SOME "Earth Dreams" engines are timing cain driven. That "new" 3.5L engine is slated to be delivered with the Pilot starting with the redesign due for 2014 models. However per Honda's press release here.
They only reference the 4 cylinder getting chain driven cams and balance shafts so I suspect the 2014 Pilot will still have that silly belt. 90K mile maintenance item, expect the bill for the 90K service at your dealer to be between 1,000 and 1,600.
Most Hondas do not have a timing chain. It is reported that the 2003 to 2007 models of Honda Accords have a timing chain, however.
Timing CHAIN - beginning with the 2002 model year.
The 2008 Honda CRV has a cam (timing) chain the normally requires no maintenance.
All Honda CR-V''s prior to 2002 have a timing BELT. Starting in 2002 they had CHAINS.
Starting with the 2002 model year CR-V's have had timing CHAINS.
chain; most late model hondas now use chains vs belts
4 cylinder have timing chain starting with model year 2003, prior to that it was all belts. V6 engines still have timing belts.
Since (and including) the 2002 model year, CR-V's have been equipped with timing chains.
All 4 cylinder Honda Accords, model years 2003 and up have a chain that should last the life of the engine.
It has a timing chain.
You do not change timing chains!!!!!You only replace timing belts which the 2003 cr-v has.Added: Honda CR-V engines are equipped with timing CHAINS starting with the 2002 model year.
All Honda vehicles up to 2002. Starting in 2003 the 4 cylinder Accords have a chain and the all V6 Honda's still use the belt. The Civic used a belt up to 2004. After that it has a chain.
