You can remove it and clean the filter inside it or you can replace it.
The EVAP Charcoal canister.
Where is evap canister located on a 1996 chevy s10 blazer? It should be found above the rear axle on the drivers side, mounted to the inside of the frame rail.
EVAP charcoal canister.
Your Chevy1997 S-10 came with an owners manual when you purchased it. If you look in it, you should find a diagram of an evap canister. This will help you navigate things easier.
Above the rear axle on the drivers side. Remove the left rear tire to help gain access to it.
mine is under the bed towards the back of the frame. its a black box with a hose going to a sensor, and another to your gas tank.
You have a small EVAP leak, possibly a loose or faulty fuel cap.
There are 2 I believe. One is above the rear end mounted to the bed. The other I believe is mounted to the canister just a bit towards the drivers side rear wheel on the inside of the frame not to far from the other evap
i think about every s10 blazer has had this problem, lol this is very common. Usaull problems are evap canister or tank vent port leaking, your computer can detect 1\16 of an inch of a leak, The cheapest thing is to check your gascap for a leak, if you let your vehicle run with the gas cap off, like getting gas for example that could have set that code off.
The S10's were notorious for having fuel line leaks under the plenim. Either the fuel line nut kit or the FPR fuel pressure regulator. That would be the first area to check. The side of the plenim that is clean, will be the side that is leaking. Of course it could be a sensor such as an EGR or IAC, but our S10's have the common problem of fuel leaking internally making them run rich and poorly, using too much fuel.
No, fuel vapors not vented to atmosphere. It may be the filter or charcoal canister. Usually fumes stored in a canister & then run through the engine for emissions reasons.
If it is CFI, the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking fuel. If the check engine light is on, have the codes read.
