Ethical Standards and Moral Standards For A Salon:

• The Salon should be sure they have well trained staff.
• The products used on customers should be good products and not the cheaper ones.
• Keeping all combs, brushes, etc., sterilized and the salon sparkling clean.
• Have someone constantly sweep the floor of any hair, etc.
• Tell some customers that want certain hairstyles to bring in a picture or look through the magazines you should have in the hair salon as to exactly what style they are looking for. Teens especially want to copy actors hairstyles.
• If your customer has thin hair and wants a style where you know their hair is not the right texture be honest with them and let them know that the hairstyle will be difficult for them to manage. If they insist then be sure they understand that you will do your best.
• Do not push your products, but, if a customer has a problem with their hair being dry; too oily, etc., suggest a product to them and then leave it up to them to decide if they want to use that product.
• Be one jump ahead of other salons and do up different scalp to hair problems on the computer on WORD (this can also cover Alopecia ... bald patches on mainly women) or dandruff, etc. Give them informative information.
• If the customer does not receive what they asked for or if something such as streaking; perms, etc., do not turn out it would be good PR to not charge your customer and have them come back at a later date for free service.
• Keeping records of what combination's of color is used on the customers that have their hair dyed or streaked; permed, etc. Also what hairdresser(s) they prefer to work on their hair.
• If your customers favorite hairdresser is going on vacation be sure and let them know so they have the opportunity to book with that hairdresser before she leaves.
• If a customer has made an appointment with their personal hairdresser and that hairdresser is ill then be courteous and phone the customer explaining the problem and suggest another one of your hairdressers that you trust.
• Offering tea, coffee or wine (depending if you want a high end Salon ... wine is generally served and sometimes fruit or small tid bits to eat.) It is not necessary to serve wine or food if you are running a moderate Salon.
• The quote 'the customer is always right' still applies to this day. If you have a rude or miserable customer that is not pleased no matter how much you do for them then you have the right to ask them to go to another salon.
