Let the customer now that you are aware that they are there and you do want to help them. But again we discuss about how when you go into a place and you pull a number you feel like you don't even have an identity no more you're just a number to the person behind the desk. If you use the customer's name then they are going to feel like it's a more personal experience and often times just by using the customer's name you can defuse an unpleasant situation.
