Niels Bohr, (1885-1962), a Danish scientist who worked with Rutherford, proposed that electrons must have enough energy to keep them in motion around the nucleus. He pictured an atom as having a central nucleus with the electrons moving around it in well defined paths or orbits.

Niels Bohr received the Nobel Prize in 1922 in physics. In 1922, Bohr was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics "for his services in the investigation of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them." The award recognized his early leading work in the emerging field of Quantum Mechanics. He is probably best known for the " Bohr atom " His description of how an Atom has Protons and Neutrons in a nucleus surrounded by the orbiting Electrons.

He was a very influential, brilliant physicist. The bohr diagram. it was a planetary model with the nucleus and the electrons floating around it
