The neo-pagan religion of Wicca or Witchcraft does not recognise a gender, all are referred to as witches.

The term Warlock is an old and extremely derogatory word. The true meaning of which is "Oath-breaker" for one who has broken their oath or faith with God. It is not now, nor has it ever been, gender specific.

The common usage of the term in modern day fiction is something that I hope one day will be addressed. I do not advocate the complete removal of the word from the language, as in the manner of other commonly used racial slurs from the past have been eradicated. But, I do think one should know the correct meaning of a word before they bandy it about willy-nilly.

Warlock is technically gender neutral so can apply to males and females; however, it is popularly treated is as the male version of witch.
