The second disease which can be transmitted from the is congenital (present at birth) syphilis. There is a rash on the baby, jaundice and enlarged liver could be present and there may be bone abnormality. Fortunately, congenital syphilis is now rare and curative treatment with antibiotics is available. If the mother has antenatal treatment, the disease can be prevented in the baby.
