The firing order should be stamped on the engine block right on top in front of the carborator.

I believe that is ( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 ) for a straight 6 cylinder
If it is a Chevy 350 the firing order should be printed on your intake, but is usually 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. This was the case on my '94 Chevy truck.

You forget to say whether you have a V-8 or a six. The firing order of a Chevy V-8 is 18436572. Cylinders #1357 are on the driver side, cylinders 2468 are on the passenger side. The numbers start at the front of the engine The firing order of a six is 153624. Number one cylinder is at the front of the engine.
