At 72,000 miles - but it is vital to replace things like the tensioner pulley, idler pulley, water pump as well. My cambelt was replaced but not the pulleys. The tensioner pulley bearings failed at 120,000 miles which allowed the cambelt to slip and wrecked the engine. Not economic to repair so the car (worth approx £2,500) was a constructive write-off plus cost of stripping down to investigate, hire cars etc, etc. Complete disaster. Currently looking to garage that serviced it to reimburse me.
timing belt.
It does not have a cam belt it has a cam chain that requires no replacement.
According to my T5 manual, toothed belt (cam belt) replacement intervals depend on engine type. They recommend asking the dealer. For 1.9ltr diesel reccomended replacement of belt and tensioner is at 90,000km -60,000mls.
I was looking at the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) and it shows for the 2.5 liter V6 engine in a 2003 Land Rover Freelander : Cam belt , front Cam belt , rear , 2 required ( so I'm confused , either it takes 2 timing belts or 3 timing belts )
The belt that you refer to is a self adjusting steel belt that is inside the engine. It does not need replacement.
No, it uses a cam chain that needs no replacement.
The cam belt replacement on a Renault Clio Grande 1.2 might cost over $1,000. It all depends on who is doing the work. Labor cost will be a big factor for this type of job. The entire front of the motor needs to come off to replace the cam belt. The timing also has to be reset.
It can be the cam belt or the serpentine belt. The cam belt must be replaced every 90,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. Replace the cam belt if it is due for replacement. Inspect the serpentine belt and replace if you see any cracks or fraying. If the serpentine belt looks fine or you replace it and the noise is still there, replace the cam belt no matter when it was last replaced. It can be the idler pulley for the cam belt needs replacing and is not holding the correct tension on the belt. This can cause the belt to break even if it is new.
Yes, it is. The cam belt must be changed every 60,000 miles. Change the water pump every other cam belt replacement. Severe engine damage will occur if the belt breaks.
hi every 40000miles.
Approx £330 - guess it depends on your local garage.
It has a chain. No recommended replacement interval.
