The war started because they wanted to unify all German people which were scattered throught norhtenr Europe that was their reason to invade Austria and chzchslovaquia ultimately they invaded Poland(because there were Germans there)whom had the support from France and Great Britain and ww2 started.

In September of 1939, Hitler invaded Poland. This did start World War Two, however, there are many facts that show that Hitler did not believe that France or England would go to war. For "insurance" he had just negotiated the Soviet-German Nonaggression Pact.
