This is the guy whoo posted the questin wanted to add some detail.
have recently removed the fuel gauge sender unit from the tank, to inspect it after tracing a fault, should there be a gauze filter over the inlet at the base of the unit, as I am a little concerned that it has come adrift in the tank.
The unit is a large white plastic cylider with various springs and pipes, it appers to have a telescopic action, and a swill pot in the base. The inlet hole is tiny, and would be easily blocked so I was wandering if the lack of this mesh might be the route of my fueling problem as there is a lot of crap in the tank. (I found a dead snail in the body of the sender unit) This had floted in over the top as the inlet hole at the base is too small for it the get in that way.
fuel filter is behind the intake
The fuel filter is on the passenger side of the engine under the intake
There is no replaceable fuel filter for the discovery II, does have a sock like filter attached at the intake on the fuel pump.
fuel intake filter inside of gastank is collapsed. Remove the fuel intake line from the fuel pump and blow the filter open with a high pressure air hose.
Simple! The fuel filter is bolted to the driver side of the block under the intake manifold.
Fuel filter is located under the intake manifold and bolted on the engine block.
Under the intake manifold near the oil filter
check your fuel filter
under the intake manifold
Follow the fuel line forward from the fuel tank to the fuel pump and look for the filter. If you do not find it, then follow the fuel line from the fuel pump mounted on the engine block to the carburetor. If you do not find it, then your Rambler may have the filter mounted at the fuel line intake on the carburetor itself. If you see a large bolt type connection at the fuel intake of the carburetor, the filter is located behind that bolt. Slowly and carefully remove that bolt with the proper tool and you will find a cartridge type filter that is spring loaded. If you buy the filter first then you will know what type it has. In-line or cartridge.Follow the fuel line forward from the fuel tank to the fuel pump and look for the filter. There is a strainer filter inside the fuel tank mounted on the fuel pump intake tube but, that is not the fuel filter. The fuel filter is mounted under the hood, on the driver's side, engine side of the strut tower, below the air filter housing. It is mounted in fuel line.
that may be a dirty fuel filter
