There might be a sensor that is shorted or bad. Whenever you unplugged your battery you are resetting the car's computer data that are use for reference to run the car. When the computer is reset it start to relearn all the data from the sensor from the vehicle. The will run but at it minimun performance. When all data are collected, the computer can operate the vehicle in the maximum performance. However, if there is a bad sensor the computer will be instructed to the vehicle to run in a limp mode or safety mode to avoid potential damages to the vehicle. An example would be if the car overheats the computer will shut the vehicle down by killing fuel line and thus prevent fire. My suggestion is to scan the car computer with a scanner and see for any failure codes. Good Luck
Disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for 2 minutes will reset the check engine light, but if the problem that caused it to turn on originally still exists, it will come on again.
Disconnect battery cables from battery for 30 minutes and then reconnect battery it then resets.
unplug your battery for 15 minutes and it will go off
Try unplugging your battery for 5 minutes. Or you can go to Auto Zone they'll do it for free. If you unplug your battery you will need to drive around to reset your computer.
No, it will no more harm the computer than unplugging your home computer for 30 minutes or more.

First, check all your connections see if everything is tight. Then try unplugging your battery for 5 minutes, reconnecting it, then driving a few miles to let the computer readjust.
Repair the problem first. You can try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. If that does not work you will need an OBD2 scan tool.
