First you should call a Contractor. They can give you an estimate for repairs and may be able to tell you the cause of the cracks. If the cause is listed a s covered peril under your home insurance policy, you could then submit the damages to your insurer for coverage.

Best bet is to call a Professional Home Inspector and maybe a Contractor that specializes in Concrete work. A good inspector or contractor might tell you if the crack is causing other issues with the house and may be able to advise you whether the crack is a purely cosmetic issue or a structural issue. The contractor might also tell you how much it might cost to repair.

Most insurance policies outside of California do not provide coverage for ground movement and cracked concrete without an endorsement as this is a natural and expected progression and they typically do not provide coverage for cosmetic issues.

If it's a purely cosmetic issue then the fix is likely quick and easy. If structural issues are insuing then the foundation needs to be repaired and could be more costly.

If the crack is indicative of a structural problem which is the result of ground movement then you may want to review your home buyers warranty as well as this is partly what they are designed to cover. Failing coverage under your home buyers warranty, check with your insurer to determine if it is covered but this can be dependent on the cause of the crack and the scope of coverage you purchased.

The preferred homeowners or dwelling insurance policy would be on form 2 or form 3. Pertinent language in the policy to review for coverage would be "foundations", "settling" and "ground movement".

How to seal crack in concrete floor?

If the crack is large, you'll have to get some more concrete and use it to fill the crack. If the crack is small, you may be able to simply patch it. If you plan on coating the floor with some type of epoxy floor coating, you may be able to simply leave the cracks alone before application, simply allowing the epoxy material to fill the cracks. The work will still come out evenly and the epoxy will actually hide the spot where the crack was once located.

A Garage Floor Coating Can Improve The Value And Appearance Of The Garage?

Homeowners are regularly searching for simple and efficient ways to create a sense of value in their homes without spending a lot of money. One of the easiest ways to improve the value of a garage and to enhance its’ appearance at the same time is to apply a garage floor coating. Not only can these coatings give a garage a crisp and clean look, they also protect the floor from oil and water residue. Some types of coatings even include anti-slipping compounds to increase safety. A number of different manufacturers produce these coatings, and the available colors and styles offer nearly endless design possibilities. Applying a garage floor coating is a relatively straightforward and simple procedure. Since a garage is usually equipped with a large door, ventilation for any chemical fumes is easily accomplished. Perhaps the most difficult part of the entire procedure is keeping vehicles outside of the garage until the protective coating has properly dried. Generally the floor must be cleaned prior to applying the protective paint or epoxy. A clean floor is usually crucial to the successful application of the coating product, and should be taken seriously. However, the specific product should be applied according the individual manufacturers instructions. Not only will following the instructions ensure a great finish, but also adhering to the proper procedure will keep all warranties and guarantees of the product valid. A garage floor coating will give a like new appearance to any stained or worn floor. The difference a great looking floor makes in a garage area often surprises many homeowners. While the price of these products varies widely, the payoff of an increased property value is more than a fair trade for an investment into the safety and protection of the garage. Choosing an interesting color scheme or one that compliments the rest of the property is a great way to bring all areas of the house together. Garage floor coatings are available in just about every major home improvement store and a variety of retailers. Different products cover different amounts of floors. Therefore, proper measurements are vital to having an ample supply of material to finish the job.
