Hi, I'll relate my experience with the same issue. I checked the instrument panel, if one of the instruments on the same side were working the the other was ok. I looked at the gas tank from the side while under the car and I saw that one wire on the sender was broken right at the sender unfortunately not fixable. I had it replaced. I went to a junk yard and found one still in a gas tank, it was good. When I had the senders wires in a real good exterior caulking to make sure they weren't going to break again because the design places the wires where they're subjected to the elements all the time. I hope this helps you. Good luck. Steve H.
There is no reset for the fuel gauge. The sending unit in the fuel tank has probably failed.
fuel sending unit is bad.
Most fuel gauge problems are the result of a faulty fuel gauge sending unit located in the fuel tank.

Probably needs a new fuel sending unit.
It has several sending units such as a fuel gauge sending unit, oil pressure gauge sending unit, temperature gauge sending unit, need to know which one you are looking for.
COuld be a number of things. check out the temp sending unit , check for a faulty thermostat, could be a broken or loose wire from the sending unit. these are the things I would check first. oldtom

Hey Sim==If it does it only while the engine is running, the sending unit could be inacurate. You need to install a manual gauge to see what the actual reading is. If it goes to red before starting the engine the wire to the sending unit is probably disconnected. Good luckJoe
Bad sending unit, corroded wire from the sending unit to the gauge, faulty fuel gauge are a few.
If you are have fuel gauge problems I would suspect the sending unit in the fuel tank to be at fault. Rarely the gauge is the problem.
Most fuel gauge problems are caused by a faulty fuel gauge sending unit. The fuel gauge sending unit is located inside the fuel tank. In most cases the fuel tank must be removed to replace the sending unit.
