A male will be a better guard dog (hince, they are used as police dogs because they are so aggressive. You can train them to be aggressive or train them to be friendly). But, if you have children, a female is the better bet. Becasue of their "motherly instinct", female will protect the children very well.
A male will probably be more playful.
But whatever you choose, they will both be loyal to their owner.
