I hope you haven't done as I - spent $1000 to find out what it wasn't. Wasn't CV joint, wasn't axle, wasn't hub bearing. What it was was a simple plastic clip that holds shifter cable away from the drive shaft had popped out of hole in flange on transmission driver sider allowing cable to contact driveshaft on bumps, turns to right, moderate braking. Also check that the other shifter cable isn't wedged between transmission and mount i believe it was. You can tie the cable up with a 5 cent tie lock. Good Luck - it sounds like mine did.
It is a small solenoid that is accutated when the brake pedal is applied allowing shifter to move. This is located at the shifter and can be heard if all is quiet shifter in park and brakes applied.
Excessive pressure needed to stop Grinding or scraping sound when brakes are applied Vehicle pulls to one side when stopping
sounds like you need pads cheap fix
Worn out brakes.
The brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. The grinding sound means your brakes are about to stop working.
All the time or when the brakes are applied. Sounds like it's time for a complete brake replacement. If one is so bad that it's grinding, the other is very close to shot also.
A 1998 Jeep Cherokee has disc brakes in the front.
only thing i know that will make brkes grind, is worn out brakesmaybe have em checked at a different mechanic
Is there a grinding sound too? You may need new breaks. Take them to someone who knows about this stuff before they fail.
Brakes
Your pads or discs are worn. The brakes will fail soon if not replaced.
