Ben Franklin; if you don't tell the whole story, it is the same as lying.
When only part of the truth is told, it can be misleading or inaccurate, giving a false impression or leading to misunderstandings. It is important to be honest and provide the whole truth to avoid misinterpretations.
Synonym: reality Antonym: lie
A lie or misinformation is contradictory to the truth. It presents information that is not accurate or factual, leading to misconceptions or misunderstandings.
Nietzsche believed that truth was constructed by humans to serve their own needs and values, rather than reflecting an objective reality. He argued that the pursuit of truth often masked underlying power dynamics and subjective perspectives, making it inherently deceptive and contingent. Nietzsche's critique of truth as a "lie" was a way to challenge traditional notions of objectivity and encourage a more critical and self-aware approach to knowledge.
This statement creates a paradox because if the second statement is a lie, then the first statement must be a lie as well. In a logical sense, this situation is contradictory.
A lie is a statement that is intentionally false, so it is not considered a fact. It is also not considered an opinion, as opinions are beliefs or views that can be subjective and not necessarily based on truth.
A half of a truth is a big whole lie,
You've miseheard the proverb. It's actually "Halfthe truth is often a great lie."
if you're not telling the whole truth, you are lying.
What Goebbels said was that if you repeat a lie often enough people believe it, not that 'it becomes the truth'.
A half truth is a whole lie. ~Yiddish Proverb or partial truth can be viewed as "stretching the truth" hope this helps you out ;-)
There is none. To deny the truth is to lie and live it! Living a lie is denial and the state denial and living a lie is synonymous with telling a lie. Perhaps the only real difference is in the motive. To deny the truth can be motivated by a desire to avoid the harshness of the truth but still requires deception. While to lie maybe the consequence of denial and or intentional deception. To deny something often requires the omission of the truth while to lie is to to deny or contradict the truth. But a lie by omission is still a lie!
He was known to often fabricate a lie or stretch the truth.
You DON'T need to lie often. But you can LIE AND tell the TRUTH at the same time. MY method is to tell my self in OTHER circumstances that it is the truth and it works. Tell the person your "LIE" and it might even work.
a very near the truth lie
Both or neither it cannot work
It literally means what it says...Repeating a lie does not make it turn into a truth. A lie is still a lie.
in difference is where the truth lies.
