That would depend upon the type of music you want to play, and the sound you want to get out of the instrument. Gibson '57's, PAF's(patent applied for), and the like are good for clean sounds. DiMarzio's are good for distortion, and EMG has different pickups designed for different sounds. I personally like EMG.
