Religion seems to think that anything can be forgiven. Someone blesses you and all is forgiven, go do it again. People can choose to forgive or not, Individual choice. You do not have to forgive anything. It is usually better if you do, holding on to hurt doesn't help. Forgive, but don't forget. There is a big difference.
Answer:
Jesus says: "...if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matt.6:14-15)
Matthew chapters five through seven are Jesus' description of the behavior and "character traits of the Children of God."
This throws the real responsibility on each and every one of us to behave in a manner which our Father in heaven might deem us worthy to be forgiven.
The Bible commands all men to be responsible enough to "be sorry" for and "repent" of their trespasses against each other, before we might receive our Creator's forgiveness.
"...Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that REPENTANCEand REMISSION OF SINS [forgiveness for our sins; our trespasses against God's laws - I John 3:4] should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:46-47)
Jesus Christ took on the responsiblilty to "forgive His creation" for their past trespasses against His Father's laws through one's faith in His shed blood to blot out past transgressions. Jesus, [our Creator], paid in our stead, the death we earned for our transgressions. But, that redemption only goes to those whose minds and hearts have been opened... turn away from their past... understand what they had done... "repent" of it... and seek to be responsible, following the cleansing of Jesus' blood, to keep God's law of love, the Ten Commandments: Love and respect for God and his fellowman.
King David knew that our trespasses against one another are ultimately against our Creator... and was responsible enough to admit it, confess it, and seek God's mercy for it.
"...Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. AGAINST THEE, THEE ONLY, HAVE I SINNED, and done this evil in thy sight..." (Ps.51:1-4).
Our responsible Creator has pioneered and has given us our example of forgiveness in this merciless world. It's a call to His creation to follow His footsteps, and, IN HIS NAME... forgive one another.
But, it begins with each of us "repenting" for our trespasses in Christ, first.
The real trick in this world - that teaches that there are no sins... that teaches that "society is responsible"... that "everyone else is responsible, but me" - is finding the rare person who is sorry for "trespassing something that this world claims doesn't exist!"
Who told you that? That's the craziest thing I've heard! If you can't forgive your friends you won't be able to forgive anybody and you'll end up with no friends, bitter, and forever alone.
It's ok, I forgive you
That with great power comes great responsibility.
