Yes, a surprising number of people have had their throats thoroughly sliced and lived to tell the story. It's amazing what horrendous physical assaults that people have survived to bear witness at the trial of an attempted murderer. Examples:

• Chicago IL, Michael Schmidt was walking his dog near Wrigley Field when an assailant grabbed him from behind and slashed his throat with a ten inch knife. The unidentified attacker stood over Schmidt looking at him, then simply walked away. Schmidt was able to provide the police with information for a sketch of the attacker.
• Hendersonville TN, Lacey Locke was slashed by her estranged husband and survived.
• Camden NJ, Osvaldo "Popeye" Rivera, slashed the throats of a 12 year old girl and her 6 year old brother; the boy lived, his sister died (children's names withheld).
• Bronx NY, 75 year old woman survived an attack in her home by two men who slashed her throat (woman's name withheld).
• Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire UK, Natalie Allman's estranged boyfriend, Jason Hughes, first tried to smother her, beat her with a dumbbell, then slashed her throat. Hughes kept her lying in bed bleeding beside her two year old twins for seven hours. She did survive.
• Alhambra CA, DeQiang Song kidnapped a 21 year old woman for ransom, tied her to a tree, called her father for ransom, then slashed her throat and left her for dead. A woman living near the crime scene found her and she survived (woman's name withheld).
• Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cheryl Cunningham was lured into a car with two men and a woman believing that they were sent by an arrangement with someone she knew. They stopped the car after a while so the woman was supposedly picking up her child. When she left, the two men dragged Cheryl out of the car, one grabbing her from behind, stabbed her and slashed her throat with a ratchet knife. She blacked out and woke to see one of the men grab a machete from the car and began to chop her, two to the head, seven blows in all. Then the woman returned, they jumped in the car, leaving her for dead. After some time Cheryl got help from a passing motorist. In the hospital she needed heart defibrillation and ten units of blood, but she made it. It seems that the woman in the group thought that she was the 'Cheryl' that had been calling her boyfriend and had one of the men pose as someone Ms. Cunningham knew to set up the ruse to pick her. Ms. Cunningham was the wrong Cheryl. Ironically, the female 'mastermind' was herself murdered most horribly before the authorities could track her down.
• Whittier CA, three men beat a 20 year old woman, then slashed her throat and threw her down a canyon along Turnbull Canyon Road. She was able to crawl up the canyon to the road and then to a house where she asked the woman there to call the authorities. She had been out for the evening with the group and was able to identify her attackers (woman's name withheld).
• Bayshore NY, Daphne Beard's husband, Carl, kicked in her door and slashed her throat in front of her two children. Carl was hit by a car and killed while attempting to flee authorities. Daphne lived to tell the story.
• Gallatin Gateway MT, Kelly Zuhlke was arrested for slashing the throat of a man who was relaxing with a group of friends at a transmission shop near Zuhlke's apartment. The victim (name not released) said he had sharpened his knife and laid it on the workbench just prior to sitting down with his friends. Zuhlke walked up to the group, grabbed the victim's knife and slashed his throat, dropped the knife, and ran away. Fortunately, the victim's group of friends were there to render first aid and call the authorities.
