I was prescribed Depakote a few years ago for supposed manic depression. I did have a huge loss of appetite the first month of taking it and lost 12 pounds; after the first month though, I had a normal appetite and gained it all back.
Tell the doctor immediately if you experience weight gain. I had this happen to me with Seroquel.
Exercise
yes.
no, they are the same drug just different release profile.
No not likely.
How much you take depends on your weight.
Yes... it's supposed to. But in my son's case he never did.
In the two years since I began taking Tegretol, I have gained nearly two stone; but I am also on HRT, which I believe can also make one prone to weight-gain. So I think with me it is a combination.
Verified 48.4 pounds lost in 6 days. Anyone got a higher number?
Yes, many but ask your doctor.
Seroquel is definitely the weight gainer. I've been on and off Depakote before with very little weight fluctuation, however with Seroquel I had not only a huge appetite that forced me to eat more, but I put on 20lbs in 2 weeks! I was really not into Seroquel at first, but it really did help with my mania.
It's the depakote that causes weight gain! Have your doctor find something else to replace it.
