It's not a huge problem like poverty but please just keep it in mind.

Global means world-wide. This means carbon dioxide emissions in one country affect the whole world, and the warming happens all over the world. Similarly any efforts by any country to reduce emissions has an effect all over the world. Global warming could have an impact on many areas of the planet, should the temperatures start to warm to unprecedented levels.

A:Yes. Around 2008 some scientists began to warn that changes were coming on faster than the international panels had predicted. Also as predicted, only sooner, the world was beginning to suffer historically unprecedented heat waves, droughts, floods and storms. The sea level was rising while mountain glaciers, the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, and Arctic sea ice melted back, all at accelerating rates. Important ecosystems from alpine meadows to coral reefs were showing signs of stress. For the scientists, as Michael Oppenheimer remarked at Fordham University conference on climate change (New York, Jan. 25, 2008), "Seeing their own predictions come true has been a frightening experience."

Global warming is a global problem that requires a global solution. Nations can not expect the solution to come from other, possibly more altruistic countries, while they take a free ride.

A:the good news is that the Earth is in far better shape that a few were proposing and people need not live in fear.

No. We just came out of an ice age some 50 thousand years ago. Humans did not begin liberating fossil carbon in large quantities until the beginning of the industrial revolution, beginning about 1700. From 1700 to 1900 atmospheric CO2 rose 10 parts per million. Had we continued using fossil fuels at that same rate, CO2 would now be 290 ppm and we would not reach 300 ppm until 2100.

Many scientists consider 350 ppm to be the maximum sustainable level for CO2, which at the 1700-1900 rate of consumption we would have reached in about a thousand years.

However, our use of fossil fuels increased at an exponential rate, doubling about every decade. We passed 350 ppm in the 1980s, and will exceed 400 ppm in 2015. By 2050 we will pass 500 ppm.

Should scientists be concerned if they cannot prove that global warming is happening?

Scientists would be relieved if they had not been able to prove that global warming is happening. They could move on and investigate more fruitful areas of science, feeling that at least this is one problem they do not have to worry about. It is because scientists have proven that global warming is happening that they are concerned.

What are some solutions that have been suggested for global warming?

There have been many solutions suggested to combat global warming. Some solutions that have been suggested include lowering the emissions of greenhouse gases and planting more trees that can absorb the carbon dioxide to reduce global warming.

Is global warming a legitimate problem?

There are quite a few people in the world who believe that Global Warming is indeed a legitimate problem. These people have followed scientific evidence. Another answer: There are also many who believe it isn't, including many top scientists. Example: The is no correlation of temps and co2 in the atmosphere, as claimed by alarmists. There has been no warming at all since the late 90's.

What evidence is there that global warming is a myth?

There is no evidence that global warming is a myth. There has certainly been a lot of misinformation on the subject, often from vested interests, but the clear consensus of climate scientists is that global warming is real and that human activities are substantially the cause of global warming since the Industrial Revolution.

Does global warming bounce?

No, global warming has been rising steadily since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Most of the warming has taken place in the last 80 years, but there is no bounce.
