Have 85 Chevy 350 getting 5 - 6 mile to gallon and terrible low end power top end power ok but not what it used to be engine hesitates when you punch it until revs get above 3000 tried timing and coil?

Sounds like a vaccume leak. IF the engine runs better at higher speed or you need to give it gas typical sign.
