The 98 Cabrio has a sealed transmission, it does not have a dipstick.
It doesn't have one. VW says the transmission fluid is for the "life of the transmission." Scary.
use 5w-40 or if it is not available 5w-30 is fine
now unless u want a perfessional job i would look for a product called "lucas" i bet my life on it.
The plastic piece around the bottom of the shifting skirt pops off, turn knob counter clock wise to loosen and remove. Re-install clock wise.
cabrio is a convertible
I had the same problem with my 95 cabrio. It is probably the turn signal switch or the headlight switch. We had to replace after changing the lights and the fuse with no success.
They don't have one. It's a 'sealed' tranny. Search on http://forums.vwvortex.com to learn more.
If there is no plug you have to remove the pan. It is also sometimes possible to siphon the fluid out through the filler tube. This might be something you would want done at a shop.
Check owner's manual or Door jambs, fuel filler door or glove box door for label
VW from 1995 and on (automatic transmission) HAVE NO OIL DIPSTICK. You have to take it to your VW dealer for a check every 100 K miles. I hope this help. Good luck and GOD Bless.
