I would suspect a vacuum leak. If the car is over 10 years old, I would recommend you replace all vacuum hoses under the hood. Do them one at a time as to not get confused.
Check coolant level Cooling fan working? Dirt or clogged radiator? Defective radiator cap?
I would suspect the idle speed motor is faulty. Does the motor sometimes idle fine and then other times rough? They are about $100.00 last time I had priced one. Your dealer can price one and print out a picture of it and where it is located so you can recognize it.....1930fcoupe

i had this same problem with my 85 and about 3 months later my fuel pump went out changed it, workds fine now
You would need to purchase the correct bellhousing, then it should work out fine.
