Yes I remember when I was younger in the seventies. There was a rash of incidents locally in South Texas. where there incidences of poisoning. I don't think there were any deaths. There were also a number of razorblades found in apples, there were no injuries, I think. It happened over the course of a few years. It lead to volunteer x-raying of Halloween candy a couple of years later. As I got older and stopped trick or treating, I lost track of whatever happened. But I remember getting my candy x-rayed at least once in the seventies.
Depends on peoples preferences.Caramel Apples is my personal favorite for Halloween
Yes bobbing for apples is still common during Halloween.

As Halloween is celebrated in the fall, harvest time, you can assume that it's because apples are most in season at this time of year.
Some Halloween games that involve apples include bobbing for apples or matching numbers written on apples. You can also try an apple eating contest or apple swinging.

Both.
Either anytime or if you're in the festive wood like halloween, eat it at halloween!
bobbing for apples
There are two caramel apples along with some other goodies in the in the Halloween Caramel Apple & Candy Gift Basket.
Toffee apples are traditionally eaten during Halloween because Halloween is celebrated at the same time as apple harvest festivals. A toffee apple used to be one of the most given treats at Halloween when it was still proper to give home made products.
At Halloween, we always go bobbing for apples.
