I took singulair for allergy/Asthma my throat was swelling (no sneezing, congestion, or cough). I took 1 singulair pill that night. A few hours later developed extremely dry nose, then it was very runny. The next morning I had a terrible cough, my lungs were congested and tight. I have never coughed so bad. I was thinking weird thoughts of suicide. I feel very strange. I call doctor they said to continue. . . I took a 1/2 pill the next day. I was so sick I just stopped taking it I lost 4 lbs in those 2 days.

Singulair (montelukast) is a leukotriene receptor antagonist (also called a leukotriene receptor blocker). Its function is to reduce the reaction in chronic asthma or allergies.
Yes - Singulair has primarily been used as an Asthma drug in the past, and is only now being marketed as an Allergy drug as it works differently than traditional antihistamines. It takes time to build up in your system to be effective. Benadryl is a fast-acting antihistamine used for dealing with allergic reactions more quickly, where Singulair is a preventative medication. I've used Singulair for Asthma since it became available, and along with Zyrtec, it keeps my Asthma symptoms to a minimum. However, occasionally I'll need the fast response of Benadryl (properly used it can also help with anaphylactic reactions) when allergic conditions warrant it. Keep in mind though that everyone is different, so check with your doctor first to see if it's okay for YOU to do it. Just because I and others can doesn't necessarily mean it's okay for you.
No, it is a medication to treat allergies and asthma
If the bottle says to not mix don't mix it
Singulair is a drug that is used for and designed for the use of humans meaning it couldbe deadly to a dog or otherwise make it very ill. Either way giving your dog Singulairwould be very irresponsible as the side effects could be devastating.
