I have a 1977 Honda Civic. When I had this problem I would clean out the carburetta. Eventually I changed the carburetta and it drove like a new car. Once, even with the new carburetta I had a problem of stalling at stop signs, the fix to this was to change a solenoid in the carb. I realize that the last point is not directly related to your problem but it cost less than $100, you might examine that all of its parts are working before buying an entirely new (or refurbished) carb. which is >> $100. Hope this helps, HelenKirby.

What would make the catalytic converter on a 1995 GMC Sonoma glow red?

your catalytic converter is plugged up most likely. Are you experiencing low power output or a "bogged down" state when you accelerate and drive? These too are all symptoms of a plugged catalytic converter. An easy fix if you or someone you know has the tools, is to simply torch or cut the converter off the pipe, use a rod and hammer and hammer out all the guts. Then weld it back on place, preferrably with a MIG welder, but a stick welder would work too..just not as nice. Do it this way, and you save yourself almost at the least, $200 in repairs from a mechanic.

How long does the warranty on catalytic converter last on a 2003 Toyota corolla?

The emissions warranty on the 2003 Corolla is for 70000 miles. I have recently had the check engine light come on and had the dealership analyze the issue. They pointed to the catalytic converter. The check engine light came on shortly after the car reached 75000 miles. Bad new is the dealership quoted repairs at over $1200! Needless to say, I was not happy with the diagnosis nor the price. I expect better from Toyota products.

What causes a catalytic converter to turn red?

The purpose of the catalytic converter is to change any unburned hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. As engines become less efficient unburned hydrocarbons and often even raw fuel can be sent out the exhaust.Once unburned hydrocarbons get to the catalytic converter they are oxidized, resulting in the release of quite a bit of heat.If your catalytic converter is running that hot, you SERIOUSLY need a tune-up and possibly other engine work. The appropriate repairs will help your fuel economy and give you better performance. My name is Michael and I have a 1991 Cadillac Eldorado, 8 cyl. I had a mechanic from work look at my car. He noticed my catalytic converter turning red, so he said, that was my problem. So I towed my car to Meineke, and they put in a brand new converter. It still turned red. So I towed it back to my home and had new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new pcv valve, new throttle sensor, and replaced both 02 oxygen sensors, front and back. The Catalytic Converter, is still turning red. I saw someone say, it could be the EGR valve, online. So that is what i am going to do next payday, replace that. If anyone, knows what the real problem is, let me know. I keep doing the things i see online here, but so far, the converter is still turning red. I have also paid for 2 dignostic test to find out, and because the test are by reading the information after i hold the OFF and WARMER BUTTON down. I still do not see what the main problem is. Someone please help me find out what is my problem, Thanks
