Why does he tell you he loves you but still cheats on you?

This is one of those things that seems like a paradox because if you love someone, how can you break up with them, right? The reason is this: just because you love someone doesn't mean that they are healthy for you or right for you. Most likely he's come to love you and at the same time there's something about you that he's just not satisfied with- most times it's part of your character. For example, if you're really talkative and he's not, he's going to think you're a chatter box and you're going to think he's cold and distant. In this sense you two are not compatible. It is one of the hardest decisions to make, one like this. In fact I've done it twice and I cried my heart out both times.

Generally if he's the one doing the breaking up for this reason it's because he knows himself and knows what he wants in life in a partner and you're not it. He doesn't want you to think that he hates you. He wants you to know that love wasn't the thing that was missing from your relationship, that it was something else.

• In some cases men can love the woman they are with, but still cheat because they simply love women and have a difficult time sticking to one woman. Other men don't know what the meaning of love means and doesn't have any remorse for his partner when he cheats. The only way you are going to find out if he loves you is to communicate with him. Stand proud and respect yourself and let him know that you don't share your man with any other woman so he has no choice, but to decide between you or the another woman. It may hurt, but who wants to stay with someone they can't trust and wonder for the rest of their lives if he is cheating. Some reasons for cheating are: being emotionally upset with one's partner; unable to commit to a relationship; feels smothered by staying with one woman; wants to be free and do what he wants to do no matter who he hurts and some men just never grow up.
