I have a 1988 Ford Broco II Bought it new. I recently had a problem with my head lights. First changed the headlight dimmer switch. Didn't work....Then put a new headlight socket on the driver's side headlight( this feeds the passenger side headlight) Didn't work...Then checked on the drivers side under the plastic cover under the hood and started checking wiring found a blown in line fuse. This was replaced. Didn't work... Then looked at the turning signal, high beam switch in the steering colum it was fried switched that and now I have head lights!!!!! Hope this helps.
We put one of these in a light fixture with a dimmer. It didn't dim, but just went on and off. However, a couple of months later it went out and the house was filled with a electrical stink. My guess is the directions may have told me not to hook it up to a dimmer and I didn't notice it.
Usally not. The only link I see is that these are usually on the same fuse. Ohm check the fuse. Also check that the dimmer switch just isn't disconnected or turned off\down. -edit- Possibly - I installed an aftermarket stereo on my Subaru Loyale (1990) and had the same symptoms you described. After troubleshooting for months, I discovered that during the stereo installation I fried the actual dimmer switch. When I replaced that, everything came back online. If the fuses check out, try replacing the actual dimmer switch. You can check this by bypassing the dimmer switch - the dash lights should come on full-power if this is the cause (connect the wire going into the switch to the wire going out of the switch).
Check your charging system. Your alternator should put out less than 14.5 volts. Any more and it overcharges the batteries and burns out lights.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM & FOUND THAT THE WIRE TO THAT LIGHT WAS CHAFED.CUT OUT A SMALL SECTION OF THAT WIRE,CONNECT TOGETHER (DON'T FORGET TO PUT ELECTRICAL TAPE OVER REPAIR & AROUND SURROUNDING WIRES TO PREVENT REOCCURANCE!!) & PRESTO!! YOU SHOULD HAVE LIGHT!! GOOD LUCK
On our '92 Sable wagon, the roller dimmer switch was bad. It was like $75 for the part and $50 to install. Three months later, the head gasket blew. I shoulda lived with it!
I just did it, they are getting trickier! You have to turn the odometer/ light switch all the way counter-clockwise and then depress it and hold while you turn the ignition switch to the ACC position, do not start the vehicle, keep holding the odometer reset button down for 10 to 15 seconds and the light will turn off. 2005 Honda Accord Reset Maintenance Light I have been following the books directions on page 66 of the owners manual for a few months with no luck!! Until today... TURN OFF YOUR HEADLIGHTS FIRST!!! Then 1)turn off engine, 2)depress the reset/dimmer switch, 3)and then turn the key to on... voila reset Just depress the reset/dimmer switch and then turn the key to on (II position).Light is gone magically. I turned the knob CLOCKWISE (righty-tighty) and then depressed it, not counter-clockwise.
Have a 1988 Chevy truck,350 horsepower. Put a new baterry in it and 2 new alternators. It will runn 5 months and quit, when you turn the key you get no reading on the panel board,no click all I get is headlights which are bright t
check the amp draw , maybe drawing too much amp for some reason , only way u could draw more ampe is when u have more load on the head light circuit

rest of question: i need to know where the circuit breaker is at? if that's the problem, i did replace the light switch a few months ago.
35 months.35 months.35 months.35 months.
1 year = 12 months so 4 years and 2 months = 12*4 months 2 months = 48 months + 2 months = 50 months.
