There are two things that can affect heat output. First, is the heater core getting hot and that appears to be OK on your Jeep since it works sometimes. The second problem is the blend door. This door is under electronic control and diverts some or all of the air through the heater core. The door is on a vertical axis and if the door is broken, it can swing back and forth with bumps, turns, hills, etc. randomly switching between heat and no heat.

It sounds like this might be your issue. The door is controlled by an actuator motor that is located on the bottom of the plenum box in the passenger side footwell. If you remove the motor, you can examine the blend door axle for signs of cracking or breakage. You should be able to manually turn the axle and switch the heat on and off. If the door isn't working properly, it's a major repair from the dealer and will run into big bucks. There is an aftermarket DIY kit to repair the common blend door problem on the Wrangler and it might be worth checking HeaterTreater for more information on the problem.

Is there oil in a heater core that can leak under the dash?

not any oil in your heater core although the heater core uses coolant coming from and returning to the engine so when damaged or being worked on coolant can leak under the dash and into the floor

Your Marley electric baseboard heater will not shut of Replaced thermostat Newly installed this heater during your basement remodel?

If it has never worked properly, you probably have somehow connected it improperly. Contact a local electrician or qualified handyman to help wire the heater properly.

How do you replace a heater fan switch in a Chevy suburban?

I just replaced the front heater motor in my 99 Suburban, it worked great, now the heater/ac absolutely does nothing. Could the switch be bad, the motor, I am stumped and need help. Thanks Jim.

Your ac worked and heater didnt now when you turn your ac on its your heater workin but on the wrong switch why?

If you get warm or hot air when in the a/c mode, you probably have little or no refrigerant in the system. Time to take it to an a/c guy to find out why it leaked out. The heater not working is a separate problem. SNAFU

2001 Taurus heater doesnt work you installed new thermostat but didn't fix What could it be?

Heater core may be air-bound and need to be bled or heater core may be plugged Remove one water line to heater to see if there is water flow to same. Connect 1st water line and disconnect 2nd to see if there is water flow through heater coreAnswerThe first question that would come to you? 1= are the heater controls operating properly? if they are then 2= is the heaters thermostat operational?Another possibility might be that your radiator fan is not turning off, this happened to mine (though mine is a 1998) my heater had worked the year before but this year it wasn't... we replaced the thermostat and still nothing, on a warmer winter day we flushed the system to clean it, and nothing, finally my dad noticed my radiator fans seemed to be staying on all the time, he looked it up, pulled the fuse for them out and the heater worked just fine, later we replaced the fuse (didn't even buy a new one) and since then the fans and heater work perfectly normally... kinda random but it worked...

The heater is probably worked by the heat generated by the engine.

How do you change a block heater on a 1981 GM truck?

Locate the block heater. Drain out the coolant from the rad and from the block if there is a drain there. There should be a screw in the center of the block heater. Unscrew it to loosen the block heater internal clamp. Use a pair of pliers and wiggle it free. As long as it is not plugged in, there should be no worry of damage. It is sealed with an o-ring.The element will have to be worked out as it goes into the block along the side.

Your 99 Dakota does not give good heat in cab from heater?

My nephew's 98 was doing that. He tried changing the thermostat. No difference. A mechanic unhooked his heater core lines and flushed a bunch of junk out of it and it worked great. That was 2 years ago and his heater is starting to get lame again. My '97 is also not blowing the greatest heat. I'm going to try the thermostat change and heater core flush and see what happens.
