Heavy white smokes usually indicates a blown head gasket. You need to check compression for all cylinders to double check. Also monitor the coolant level, if it drops down, you definitely have a leak. If the compression test fails, it means that the leak is internal you have to replace the head gasket.
You should not have any problem at least five years. Unless you like to drive on really bumpy roads in high speed. Or load your car with heavy weight.
If you don't have any experience and required equipment you cannot do that. Because it's not that easy like it sounds. First of all the hardest part is the transmission which is connected to the engine after that drive axes. Also you will need something which can handle heavy weights it should be able to lift the engine up and down. You can ask your mechanic to do that or a Toyota dealer. It might cost you a lot though (like another Camry).
bad rings or really bad valve seals.
Rebuild the engine. Oil is leaking past the rings. You will likely note that it is blowing blue smoke as well.
Blue smoke out tailpipe is common for oil getting in combustion chamber. It means you can have bad valve seals, easy to fix, or oil is slipping past rings, much more extensive and expensive.
1.5 tons, i will say.
