First select gradient then look at Options bar which is below menus. Click on rectangle with gradient which is in Options bar (first option) to open Gradient Editor dialog then select different gradient if you want. Click on image and drag. That's basics but this tool can be complex if you don't know how to use it and you need good explanation. See related link for tutorial.
