PS i have removed all the bolts from under the car and hoses wiring ?? do i have to get a crow bar and pry it apart or take the engine and tranny out together ?? thanks again
You shouldn't have to clean them, and if you go to the trouble of removing them, you should replace them, they are very inexpensive.
If you are having trouble with your overdrive, it could most likely be the end clutch also known as fourth gear that needs to be replaced. i had to replace mine about 6 months ago. it doesn't cost too much to replace either.
Transmission fluid should be a nice burgundy red color. If it is brown or black, this is a sign of transmission trouble. If the fluid smells burnt, the transmission will probably need replaced.
NO. Your transmission leak has nothing to do with hard starting. Have you replaced the spark plugs & plug wires?
Had same problem with 1998 ford contour gl. Replaced transmission range sensor and problem stopped.
having trouble removing the transmission oil pan from a 1998 explorer sport 4x4. need photos.
Head will have to be removed. This is a major repair. As long as you have the head off, you need to have all valves ground and/or replaced. If the engine has over 150,000 miles on it, I would do a complete overhaul at the same time. Removing the head is 75% of the work.
The first two things to check would be the transmission fluid level, and have it checked for codes. A lot of transmission problems will set trouble codes.
I have a p0708 code on this cougar 1999 2.5 with a p0420 code also what sensor should i replace
don't remove the throttle body. just the exhaust pipe, the air inlet tube and the heat shield.
Yes you can but it isn't worth the trouble and expense. You must add an additional foot pedal and the rack it goes on. You will need to add a brake booster, master cylinder etc. You will need to remove one motor mount and add another. You will need to add a shifter and all the linkage and mountings. Just buy a standard car and strip the one you have now for spares!
There are many things that could cause this. If it shifts hard or sometimes but not others you can try replacing the fluid and filter. Make sure to replace the filter as some places will only replace the fluid and not the filter. If it is in second gear only, the transmission computer has detected a malfunction and set a trouble code.
