Have Dealer or Mechanic Check The coil packs! Each Plug has one! Don't get them Wet on models '99-'03 ...ie. Washing your Engine Down! This task will short them out whether engine is running or not. Water stays trapped in small crevuses on this series of coil packs and when it is running and put it under a load ex. (going uphill) in overdrive, It drops its load and causes engine to misfire. Truck will jump like tranny going out. Will cause check engine light to come on. Staying on most of the time. $185.00 per pack installed at dealer. ouch! This is a design flaw. The new ones that it is replaced with haven't had this problem. I've had three done And I still like my '02 Supercrew 4x4 5.4 liter. also could be fuel pump or throttle body clogging or bad fuel. Best to get codes read. You can get it done for free at "AutoZone" Auto parts.
auto zone will check your codes for FREE. if you have a bad coil pack they will tell you.
