No, Hitler did not surrender to Britain at all. He committed suicide because he didn't want to be taken alive by the Russians who were attacking Berlin in 1945. The raid on Dieppe in 1942 showed quite clearly that Britain alone ( And the Empire & Commonwealth) could never have mounted Overlord (D Day) in 1944 without the Americans. There was great suffering on all sides in WW2, not just the Germans & the Russians & the British. For example the US bomber crews and others who lost their lives....
Karl Dönitz, who took over the German government after Hitler's and Goebbel's suicides, surrendered to the Western Allied Command, which included both American and British leaders.
Also, America won the Mexican-American War, the Spanish-American War, participated in WW1 and WW2, won the Revolutionary War, and accomplished it's goals in both the Korean and Gulf Wars.
