No, Hitler did not surrender to Britain at all. He committed suicide because he didn't want to be taken alive by the Russians who were attacking Berlin in 1945. The raid on Dieppe in 1942 showed quite clearly that Britain alone ( And the Empire & Commonwealth) could never have mounted Overlord (D Day) in 1944 without the Americans. There was great suffering on all sides in WW2, not just the Germans & the Russians & the British. For example the US bomber crews and others who lost their lives....
Karl Dönitz, who took over the German government after Hitler's and Goebbel's suicides, surrendered to the Western Allied Command, which included both American and British leaders.
Also, America won the Mexican-American War, the Spanish-American War, participated in WW1 and WW2, won the Revolutionary War, and accomplished it's goals in both the Korean and Gulf Wars.
Germany surrendered to Britain and Hitler shot himself
2 points One: No America did not win world war 2, the Allies did which consisted of the 3 main countries (Britain, America and USSR) and many other countries. Two: Hitler did not surrender but committed suicide by taking a cyanide tablet and shooting himself in a bunker in Berlin 30 April 1945.
After World War 2 - the Germans were loosing ground left and right and surrendered - Hitler killed himself by shooting himself in the head. He had first given his girlfriend a pioson pill. He was too scared to eat one himself, so he gave it to his best, favorite dog Goldie. Then he shot himself.

Actually, I don't think Hitler surrendered at all... He took the 'cowards way' out of a, seemingly hopless situation. That meant that, when all hope was lost he took a cyanid ampull, crushed it with his teeth and immediately after that shot himself. -- Hitler didn't surrender. He shot himself.
