I have the same question. I bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX and my duaghter has left the lights on several times and run down the battery. I'm trying to figure out if the car has a broken warning chime.

Well, that depends on whether you still have the lights and blinkers, ect. If there are not lights, blinkers, brake lights, or horn, then you do not need a battery to run this bike. If you do have these items, then you would need a battery

The head lights are the biggest long term drain on your battery. (The starter is a heavier drain, but you can't leave it on for very long.)
No you do not need a battery, but the lights and horn will not work unless you have a battery installed, dead or not.
