Definitely! There is a reason why they are affectionately known as "German Shedders." German Shepherds have a double coat consisting of a harsher outer coat of guard hairs and a fluffier insulating under coat. They typically "blow coat" twice a year. During those periods you can rake enough dead hair out each day to build a whole Llasa Apso. During the rest of the year a quick once over with a slicker or pin brush will be sufficient, but during shedding an undercoat rake (special tool for removing dead undercoat) is essential.
yes very badly especially in the summer if you want to slow it down wash them at least three times a week & brush them after washing them
It is supposed to be a yearly thing hence the need to brush almot dailey but long hairs are suppose to shed a lot more.
EDITED TO ADD..
I own five German Shepherds and I always tell people that THEY SHED ONCE, ALL YEAR! LOL.
YES
Length of a dog's fur has NO bearing on how much they shed. It's a myth that "short haired dogs shed less".... actually most shed a lot, they just shed a lot of shorter hairs!
Also note that many true "non-shedding" dogs happen to have very long hair!!
They have a double coat, to far both cold and hot weather.
Husky's and Malamutes also share the coat type.
So, when the weather becomes hot, the coat sheds to become thinner, and as winter dawns the coat has a 'blow shed' to have thicker hair replace it for the dropping temperature.
All throughout the year but they also have a 'blow' stage where their fur is totally stripped, it can be a monster for the carpets.
Yes, quite a bit in fact. You would expect to have to brush it every day if you don't want hair everywhere.
Yes. A lot. Invest in a good dog brush and vacuum.
yes, they shed a ton!
I would say so, yes.
😶
There are many shorthaired, large breeds of dogs in the sporting & working groups that would fit those requirements. The Doberman, Greyhound, German Shorthair comes to mind. Go to akc.org and research various breeds.I would certainly go for the German shorthair they can be big or meadium and love to run..AnswerPortuguese Waterdogs don't shed and they're very active. Contrary to popular belief, poodles are not just "grandma dogs". They don't shed and they are very athletic. Both of these dogs can be shaved and would required little grooming.
Cats shed all year long. How much they shed is dependent on the cat - some shed very little overall and others shed a lot.
German Shorthair Pointer
all cats have prediters, dogs!
Very little. All animals shed. But these dogs do not shed much.
Yes, American Shorthairs generally get along with dogs and other pets.
6.5-7 inches when erect.
All dogs shed, in fact anything with hair sheds, but it can be kept to a minimum with regular brushing. CORRECTION: Not all dogs shed because not all dogs have FUR. Yorkshires and some other breed have hair. They do not shed much if at all! I would know because I own Purebred German Yorkshires and breed them. There are few breeds that will not shed, but do lose some hairs with bushings. If you are looking for a breed that does not shed, look into a Yorkshire. King Charles do shed quite a bit!
All dogs shed even if is a little or alot. It depends on the mix but beagles shed alot.
All dogs shed
Yes, all dogs shed.
German Shepherds are great pets to have around. They obey and they are good guard dogs. You should get a German Shepherd ! The only bad thing is that they sometimes bite when they play and they shed.
