If you delete a world through the Delete World button, it completely erases it (no recovery).
However, if a world you did not delete but isn't showing up, all you do is rename the folder in .minecraft/saves

No, only if you delete your .minecraft folder, minecraft isn't 'installed' so you can't uninstall it either, just deleting it from your desktop does the trick, all your worlds will be left alone.
Well there is one way to get into good worlds in Minecraft. Type in a seed.

go to options, and force update. this will restore your minecraft jar and make it run again.
No it doesn't because it is just like force upating but you do need to update your worlds.
delete your BIN and then run minecraft, it will then be cleared and restored, this doesn't change your worlds.
