Seed production is a form of sexual reproduction, with all the genetic variation that sexual reproduction brings with it, where as vegetative reproduction is asexual and does not bring about any genetic variation.

Cloning is basically when a cell is extracted from an organisim, and injected into another so that organsim looks exactly the same as the first. Well if this is so, the cells of a plant would not correctly combine with an animal because their cells are totally different. Plants are more subtle and simple, while animals have more layers. hope this answes your question. if it doesnt, let me know.

'Ideal' genetics.

Firstly, by ideal, I mean the expressed phenotypes are what the genetic engineer (green thumb, pot head, etc.) are after. "I want to grow plants that are exactly the same as this one." Trim a nice leafy stem off the side, toss it in a rooting formula, cover with a clear plastic lid, hang a light, make sure you keep the humidity nice and high, as all water absorption has to take place through the stem and leaves. You don't wanna dry out those little fellas! Bang, by the end of the day you have 100 duplicates of the first plant, all genetically identical to it.

If one is breeding for a specific set of phenotypes, often cloning is an easier way to duplicate those phenotypes. When growing from a seed, there is always potential for other phenotypes to be expressed and not all of the seeds will produce a unanimous set of phenotypes. If one chooses to grow from seeds, the plants with undesired phenotypes need to be pulled and destroyed. This is time consuming and depending on the genotype and probability of the desired phenotypes may be low.

It's also potentially cheaper.

Where can cloning be carried out?

In grain production. (Farming). Additional: The cloning of plants by vegetative propagation (taking cuttings) is the most common form of cloning today and will certainly continue to be so.

How does gene cloning differ from animal cloning?

Cloning - Is copying an animals DNA, it is the exact animal replica. Selectively breeding - Breeding animals with the features and characteristics that the breeder wants.

Do you think the cloning of humans should be legal?

Cloning of animals is legal, but cloning of humans is considered to be a taboo and is not legal.

Is animal cloning unnatural?

YES! Cloning of animals is a sientific man made process. In my opinion they should not mess with nature and let animals reproduce themselves. ANS2: No! There are a number of animals that reproduce by cloning. Almost all bacteria, most Protists and even animals as complex as Coelenterates reproduce by cloning...naturally. ANS3: Animal cloning is unnatural if you're talking about the manmade kind, and I agree with the ANS1, why are we wasting time , effort and $$$ on cloning things that aren't event endangered? We should probably be spending that money on other things If we really don't want certain species to go extinct

How can cloning be used?

Theoretically By cloning A plant or animal you end up with a copy of the original plant or animal. For instance if you were to clone all beef cattle from parents that gave terrific beef industry could alway be assured of the quality of a given strain of beef. this would be of great advantage to the growers of meat. The same can be said for the growers of plants and fruit uniformity in quality is very important when it cums to the bottom line.

In What countries is human cloning legal?

There is no country in the world in which the cloning of human beings is legal, this is due to ethnical and religious reasons. The cloning of plants and animals on the other hand has helped us understand the actual idea of cloning in a different way. On information on the cloning on animals visit the articles on cloning on wiki.

Is cloning illegal?

The disscussions of cloning are still very vague. It is well known that the cloning of human beings is illegal, due to religious problems. On the other hand the cloning of plants and animals is legal.

What is the potential benefits of cloning human beings?

Some potential benefits of cloning humans, animals, plants, etc. would be cloning needed body parts for sick people, cloning important people, cloning missed, loved ones, etc.

What is the benefits of cloning?

Cloning in plants and animals can mean that stronger/more desirable characteristics and organisms could be replicated. An even greater benefit could be that "bad" characteristics might be eliminated.
