As water runs though the compost, some of those elements wash into and remain in the soil and some may wash into streams or rivers. Those that remain in the soil may be utilized in farming by planting seeds/seedling directly into the enriched decomposed compost or soil, or by mankind moving the compost from it's decomposition area to a different growing (farming) environment.
