A neutron has no charge. A proton has a charge of +1. They both have a Relative Atomic Mass of 1 (Relative to 1/12th of a Carbon-12 atom). The number of protons affects the chemical properties of an element, and indeed, what element it is - whereas neutrons tend to affect physical properties and what isotope it is.
