Are polydactyl cats smarter than average cat?

Polydactyl means having more than the usual number of fingers or toes. Most Cats have 5 digits on each paw. A polydactyl has extra digits, usually 6. Cats are not the only animal to be considered polydactyl. In fact people may also have more than 10 fingers or toes!

They aren't bred. Sometimes, randomly, a Polydactyl cat can just be born.. But if you try to breed them they won't become Polydactyl. I had two! And they just showed up randomly in the litter. The rest of the kittens in the litter had a normal amount of toes. So it's just random, I guess :)

A polydactyl cat is a cat which is born with physical anomaly; with more than usual number of toes on one or more of its paws as a result of a genetic mutation. The anomaly occurs while the fetus is still developing.

Normal cats have five toes on each front paw and four toes on each hind paw. Polydactyl cats may have as many as seven digits on front and/or hind paw.

A cat born with extra toes does not mean the cat will be smarter. One individual cat may be "smarter" than another cat, but there is no link between brain function to the number of toes a cat has.

They are the same thing. Polydactyl cats have extra toes due to inbreeding somewhere along in the family history.
