It is important to give enough thought when planning to plant poppies as to where is the best place to grow them. Generally poppies are best grown when planted in soil where the exposure to sunlight is maximum. If you are planning to grow them indoors, make sure you install flourascent light in the room where the flowers are grown. You need to give in light to poppies for at least 8-10 hours a day.

Wild poppies are known for growing in fairly inhospitable areas. The main thing poppies require is full sunlight, so they will grow better in open sunny fields, than in moist, shady areas. Although fertile soil is better for most plants, poppies have been known to grow in poor soil as well.
