You don't say what model year of Ford Taurus , but over the years there was the 3.0 liter " Vulcan " V6 engine and the 3.8 liter V6 engine which are both Over Head Valve ( OHV ) / pushrod design engines and The " Duratec " engine is a DOHC engine
If you are swapping the Vulcan OHV engine, it will work without issue. If you are attempting to swap the Duratec DOHC engine, it will bolt in, but the computer will not be capable of running the engine.
