The bigger the better for all fish. The Butterfly fish (Chaetdontidae sp) are quite a large species having many members and most grow to around 6 inches or so. I would not advise anyone trying to keep marine fish in a tank any smaller than 50 USgallons. As I said, bigger is better because bigger is easier although it will obviously cost more to set up. A larger mass of water means there are less fluctuations in the water parameters. I would suggest a 100 US gallon tank would be best to start with.
