dont feed rats to you python that is crule rather give your python rump steak or beef or chiken make sure it is raw ...that is beter for your snake to eat trust me i am a vet.
^^why is feeding a rat to your snake any more cruel (by the way you spelled that wrong) than feeding it abused chicken and poor cows. Besides those foods were processed for HUMANS. snakes should eat food meant for them.
and the size of rodent depends on the size of your snake. Most likely a ball python would be eating mice not rats. My 2 year old male ball python eats adult frozen mice.
YOU'RE a vet?
It depends how big and how much your python eats. If you usually give it lots of food and he eats it right away, I suggust you give him a big mouse. (and vice versa)
Take your python to the vet RIGHT NOW. She/he could have a serious infection.
I believe you are asking about the het vpi axanthic Ball Python. het vpi axanthic only refers to the genetics for a particular color of ball python. Ball pythons average 4-5 feet long as adults and weigh around 5 pounds.
They get the same size as a regular ball python, spider refers to their colour/pattern.
A ball Python can in fact eat a lizard depending on size. If the python feels the lizard is too big it will just kill it. Never put a snake and a lizard together; they will fight and one will win.
NO ! A Royal python's (from their Latin name Python regius) diet is rodents - such as mice, gerbils or rats, depending on how big the snake is !
ONLY feed your ball dead prey. Live can injure or kill a ball python. If you leave dead mouse in their cage overnight, after they grab it, about 15-30 minutes before it is eaten. They digest for 48 hours, so do not handle them in that time or else they may throw up.
I agree that a 20 gallon tank isn't big enough and they won't be very comportable in it but ball pythons don't get longer than 20 feet, the longest a female would get to would be 5 - 6 feet and a male would get to about 4 - 5 feet but that's rare! You could use a 30 gallon tank but the best would be a 40 gallon tank for a fully grown ball python!!
No, they are too big. Small ball pythons require pinkies, and larger ones will eat rats. Make sure you never feed them live prey, as live prey can harm the snake. Many pet stores sell frozen rats.
The Royal python (python regius) can grow as long as six feet - although typical sizes are nearer four to five feet. All the adults in my breeding colony measure at least54 inches
If it's your first snake - the corn snake is the easiest to care for. The Boa WILL grow big (up to 12 feet !) and the Royal (ball) Python can be a fussy eater.
Small Python's Diet such as the Ball Python consists of rodents, Medium Python's Diet such as the Carpet Python consists of Chickens, Rodents and even Wallabys, Big Python's Diet such as the Indian Python consists of Rodents, Very Large Python's Diet such as the African Rock Python consists of Thomson's Gazelle, Nyala, Rodents and Nile Crocodiles, Massive Python's Diet such as the Burmese Python consists of Deer, Rodents, Mugger Crocodiles and Storks, Giant Python's Diet such as the Reticulated Python consists of Deer, Stray Dogs and Cats, Wild Pigs, Mugger Crocodiles and even Sun Bears.
