Some of the fish keepers think that they are useful and some invest efforts to get rid of them. Those who think that they are useful call them aquarium bulldozers and praise their ability to eat leafs, dead fish and uneaten food and keep the tank "clean" from troubles. Other fish keepers just can't see their present in the tank and spend time to get rid of them claiming that those snails disfigure the tank, they also say that the snails create new colonies in short time and those colonies create excreta and quickly deteriorating water quality.

∙ 16y agoIt varies radically by the species of snail. The apple or mystery snail is the largest freshwater snail in the world, and can get as big as a softball, and will need at least a 55 gallon. Some species stay quite small and only need a 5 gallon. Make sure you read up on the species of snail to find out how big they get, and that will determine the aquarium you should put them in . Keep in mind that all species of snails love lots of room to roam around, so go for the biggest you can afford or have room for!
