How big should you make a dog house for a great Pyrenees?

From what I've read throughout many articles, research, and online guides; a large or extra large dog house would be suitable for the Pyrenees.

Depending on how big the dog gets, you would want a home large enough for the dog to turn, and lie down. They are most comfortable outside, but will resort to shelter when weather gets cold. Sometimes they will seek shelter during heavy rain.

A great Pyrenees dog typically reaches 30-32 in. tall (to shoulders) for male and 25-30 in. tall for female. The female can weigh up to 85 pounds and the male can possibly grow to be an astounding 150 lbs! On average 100-130 lbs. Of course all dogs are different as all people are different and these are average size ranges.

To make your dog most comfortable do not buy a house too large due to their need for the small space during the cold weather, which is when they utilize their home the most. The house needs to be just enough space to turn, and lie down. They will position themselves to generate the most heat within their space.

Most Dogs typically enjoy their homes if they have to bend their head down to get into the door. This is more safe and secure for them.

Since the great Pyrenees likes to be outdoors in open areas, do not be surprised if the home is only used during rough times. They like wide open spaces. Again, when it gets cold this is when they like to feel warm and secure within their shelter.
