A:One way is to choose a different version of The Bible, written in clear, modern English. Many people follow the King James Version because of the beauty of its language, but the language is so old-fashioned that it becomes laborious to follow. Even the New King James Bible, with modernised English, can be a challenge. There are Bibles to suit every level of understanding.

You can also recognise that many of the stories in the Old Testament are actually 'doublets'. Instead of trying to reconcile Genesis chapter 1 with chapter 2, accept that they were written by two different authors at different times in Jewish history and read each on its merits.

Why do you need to study the content of the Bible?

A:Different people have different reasons for studying the contents of the Bible. For example, some schoolchildren study it only because this is expected of them and they deel they have no choice. Others study it because they believe it to be true. Theologians study the Bible to understand their religion and so that they can have answers to questions that may be asked of them. Biblical scholars carefully study the contents of the Bible and the context of those contents, in order to understand what the authors really meant and why they wrote as they did.
